President of Herzen University. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics and is a member of the Russian Academy of Education and the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He also holds a number of honorary titles for his contributions to education and science in Russia.
Throughout his career in higher education, Dr. Bordovsky actively pursued research work and became known as an eminent and versatile scholar with a distinguished reputation among fellow researchers in Russia and internationally. He initiated research into semiconductors with positional disorders of the crystal lattice and made significant theoretical contributions to the study of thermostimulated processes in high-resistivity photoconductors. He built strong research traditions both in the field of high-resistivity photoconductors and in university education in general. Together with his many students he created and comprehensively described a number of new semiconducting compounds with a range of potential applications. He authored and co-authored over 500 research publications, including books, study manuals, invention certificates, patents and journal articles.
