Alexandra Rivlina

Graduated from Lenin Moscow State Pedagogical University in 1985, where she later defended her Ph.D. thesis at the Department of the English Language History and Grammar. Since 2009, Alexandra Rivlina has been employed as an Associate Professor at the Department of English for Social Sciences, School of Foreign Languages, National Research University Higher School of Economics (Moscow). Throughout her academic career she conducted classes in theoretical grammar of English, comparative typology of English and Russian, cross-cultural communication and translation/interpreting. Currently, she teaches English for Academic Purposes and English for Special Purposes at the Department of History and Art History, IELTS preparation and Academic Writing. Her research interests include sociolinguistics, language and culture contact studies, contact linguistics, globalization of English, World Englishes, bilingualism, and Anglicization of Russian. As a member of the International Association for World Englishes (IAWE) Alexandra Rivlina participates in annual IAWE conferences as well as various linguistic conferences in Russia.
