Graduated from M.K. Ammosov Yakutsk State University in 1986, majoring in English Language and Literature. She earned her Ph.D. with a dissertation on Gerard Manley Hopkins and the Reform of Style in the English Poetry of the Second Half of the 19th Century which she developed under the supervision of Prof. Victor Milovidov (Tver State University). She has authored 89 papers on English literature and translation including papers on epic translation and cross-cultural communication as well as a number of text-books on the training of translators and interpreters. Alina Nakhodkina has substantial experience of working as a translator, interpreter, and editor with Russian, English, and Yakut (Sakha). She supervised a large-scale project on English translation of the Yakut (Sakha) epic Nurgun Botur the Swift by Platon A. Oyunsky which was published in the UK in 2013. Alina Nakhodkina has been Head of the Department of Translation at M.K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University since 1998. In 2002 she headed the Regional Branch of the Union of Translators of Russia
