Graduate of Herzen University’s Faculty of Foreign Languages. She earned her Ph.D. from the English Philology Department, under the supervision of Prof. Irina Arnold. Since 1990 she has been teaching at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, within the Department of Humanities and Arts, where she also heads a Computer-Assisted Language Learning Laboratory. Her research and publications deal with the socio-cultural aspects of immigration, the use of language in multilingual and multicultural settings and lingua-cultural features of computer-mediated communication. She has authored or co-authored 70 articles/book chapters and three scholarly monographs. She serves on the editorial board of two international journals and the Israeli Association for the Study of Language and Society. Her professional activities include editorial work and refereeing research projects.
